We first hiked to Franklin Falls then to the Denny Creek "water slide" for a total of about 6.3 miles with 1000 feet elevation gain.
Trail was covered with snow 99% of the time. There were a few muddy creek crossings.
We didn't use our snowshoes but definitely appreciated having our micro spikes on our waterproof shoes. Don't make the mistake of wearing street shoes with no traction on this trail this time of year. Hiking boots with sturdy soles would work - the trail down to the viewing spot of Franklin Falls is very slippery! (only a couple people hiked past the "Warning: avalanche terrain" sign at Franklin Falls.)
We did not cross Denny Creek but we saw another group that had scooted across the log to snowshoe on the other side of the creek.
Denny Creek area was very peaceful as most people go to see the stunning Franklin Falls.
