Capitol State Forest - Mount Molly — Monday, Jan. 20, 2025

Olympic Peninsula > Olympia
Capitol State Forest - Mount Molly by kiminsnow

Started the hike around 2:30 pm, finished a little after 4 pm. No parking lot, so parked alongside the road. Hiked with a dog and two kids (6 year old and two year old). We had the trail to ourselves. Trail is normally open to ATVs, but not in the winter.

Trail was easy to follow. Quite a few mud puddles that spanned the entire trail. Some of them were iced over. Almost everyone experienced a fall at some point due to the loose rock on the trail or ice.

Both kids managed the hike. It was closer to two miles out and back and less than 400 feet of elevation.

The view was amazing! Clear day, was able to see the big three mountains and the capitol. Could hear people shooting in the distance. All and all, family friendly hike with great views.
