Fort Ward to Blakely Harbor — Monday, Mar. 17, 2025

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
Blakely Harbor Trail

We started from the Blakely Harbor end, trail in good condition. There's been some local conservation work there - thanks!!  Hope bike users are contributing to trail work.  A few wet spots but since the base was solid, not muddy.  No problem for tennis shoes.  Gradual uphill above the ravine to the upper Ft Ward parking lot.  Then, instead of returning the same way, or on the main trail, we took the alternate route which lies along the top of the cliff between the main trail and the water below.  Lovely!

If you take the trail from the Blakely end, when you hit the main trail just go straight across.  The return is a short stretch on the main trail and then turn off to go back to the Blakely trail.

Vault toilet in good condition at the upper parking lot along w/ a trail map.  And there's a vault toilet at the bottom at Blakely Harbor as well, just around the corner from the parking lot.

Five cars in the small parking lot, but plenty of parking along the road outside and across.  Only saw one party.
