Sunrise Beach Park — Tuesday, Mar. 25, 2025

Olympic Peninsula > Kitsap Peninsula
View from the parking lot

I reckon 99.9% of the people who come here just go the beach, which I did to start out, although it required ducking under a couple of downed trees to get very far.  Whether due to tide or not, the beach wasn't very wide then, but it was more sand than rock, certainly no sure thing on a Sound beach.

I had read about there being 2 miles of trail, but I definitely didn't find that.  What I did find was an unsigned and narrow trail leaving from the west end of the parking lot, which appeared to get very little use.  After a short stretch it turned right, crossed a road, then dropped into a creekbed (possibly muddy here in season, although on this day there was only minor mud even after rain the day before) before climbing out and ending on a second road, maybe a half-mile from the parking lot, which I walked down a short distance for another view of the water.

The only other trail I saw went steeply up the hill north of the parking lot which had the only trail sign I saw:  "WARNING:  Stinging nettle."  I figured it couldn't go very far either before it would have hit that same road.
