Stream crossing at the parking lot before the trailhead - about ankle deep with a log that can be used to cross. I imagine this will disappear as runoff reduces later in the season. The first two miles included a clearly developed trail and abundant wildflowers. Several downed trees to traverse, but was not difficult to do so. Around mile 2-3 snow patches started to appear, but were passable. I would recommend traction, gators, and poles. After mile 3 when most of the trail is still covered in snow it could be easy to lose your way and also start post-holing. We ultimately turned around at about 3.5 miles due to mountain goats blocking the trail and not wanting to move along. Then they followed us down on the trail for over a mile. Highly recommend getting an early start. Bring extra water and your headlamp just in case it takes you longer than you anticipate.
