Did the loop up Bear Gap to the PCT and out via Fog City Trail. We also walked several miles "south" on the PCT toward Sourdough Gap. All trails in excellent shape and only small snow fields to cross on PCT near Fog City Trail. Water available on the climb up Bear Gap and water along the Fog City trail. Placer Lake is melted out but the shoreline and the approach to it is still snow bound. Flowers in full bloom along the rock walls of the PCT. Saw lots of bird activity and tons of insect life. Butterflies were prolific! The road in is rutted and trench like but easy enough for my girlfriend's Toyota pick up truck. Saw no one all day. Weather was perfect today!

Georg and I hike the Silver Creek Trail from Crystal Mt./love their premium bathrooms/and hit the PCT at about Bear Gap. From their it is just over a mile to the intersection with the Crystal Lake Trail. It is about half a mile to great lookout spots of Crystal Lake, the Mountain and Slide Mt. among other great features. Never knew their was a trail from that side till we met a couple coming up from their.
last year.

It was such a cool perspective looking over at Crystal Ski resort as I grew up skiing there. I have done the trail above Crystal Lakes coming from Chinook Pass and over Sourdough Pass. Gorgeous Alpine area!
