Dirty Face Ridge, Mount Townsend - Silver Lakes Traverse & Silver Lakes — Friday, Jun. 27, 2025

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal

I did the roughly 11 mile loop starting from the Dirty Face Ridge trailhead. Hiked the ridge to Mt. Townsend, then out to Silver Lake, and back out to the Tubal Cain Trailhead. I started hiking at 7:30 am and got done right around 4:30 pm, taking plenty of breaks. Trail is in great conditions overall. The Dirty Face Ridge trail had no hikers other than me, surprising for such a gorgeous hike. Of course the route got much busier once I reached Mt Townsend. Silver Lake was fairly busy with day hikers and overnighters, but I was still able to find some space for a nap near the shore. The Silver Lake trail is relatively short, but it's pretty rugged and steep. This loop makes for a great day hike.
