Golden Gate — Sunday, Jul. 6, 2025

Mount Rainier Area > SW - Longmire/Paradise
Snow patch located just above the switchbacks - Actual trail is on the left side, still partially buried.

Hiked the Golden Gate Trail at Mt Rainier with a park volunteer work party (Meadow Rovers) for the purpose of installing rope & rebar in order to keep visitors on the trails, and not in the meadows. Found several patches of snow on the trail, with a few snowbridges over the creek that runs through the trail below the switchbacks. Caution advised to all visitors that good hiking boots and trekking poles are a must-have at this time due to the snow patches that still exist. Besides installing rope & rebar, we also spent a considerable amount of time educating visitors to stay on the trail at all times and to not enter the meadows.
