Middle Tiger — Sunday, Jul. 13, 2025

This was a WTA Volunteer Work Party on Sunday, July 13, 2025 along the Middle Tiger/TMT trail of Tiger Mountain.  

Parking lot on Route 18 still a bit rough in spots - but the good news is that a huge parking lot is under construction in the closed gate area! It looks like it will be at least 3x the size of the current spot on the highway. 

The WTA work party traveled by caravan about 3 miles up the gravel road, then hiked remainder up to the clear-cut area of Middle Tiger trail.  We worked on removing rocks, smoothing tread, tackling stumps and roots, and creating a more defined slope on the exposed areas of the clear cut - over 200 feet of trail completed in a few hours with the whole team in action. 

We only hiked through a small portion of the shaded tree canopy which was in good shape.  There are additional work parties on this part of the Tiger Trail this summer, so join in!  It will be a very nice trail, and much smoother and safer once the work is completed.  And, bonus of unobstructed views of Tacoma/Rainier, too!
