This hike was pretty good for all involved, even our kids (6.5 and 4) who enjoyed trying to count the steps each time we did the hike. It varied between 145-167 depending on who was counting and if roots were counted as steps. It can be pretty steep coming back up, but if you take your time you'll be fine. Additionally, depending on where you start from, the distance can vary as we were staying in the campground and it ended up being a two mile round trip, but if you are starting in one of the parking lots, obviously your trip will be shorter. No bugs or obstacles and the trail was well kept.
