Hiking Illahee State Park

Find this tiny gem of a state park on the Kitsap Peninsula, tucked between Bainbridge Island and Bremerton. Vistors here will find prime beachside meandering and a relaxing atmosphere, enhanced by the dense forest typical of land in the Puget Sound area.

There's just half a mile of hiking to be done here, so come prepared for a relaxing day. While away the hours on the beach, watching watercraft launch and return. Or bring a line and do some fishing. You could even hop in the water for a dip on a hot day.

For kids, there's a playground as well as a volleyball court and softball field. There are also horseshoe pits. In short, plenty to keep you occupied for an afternoon of picnicking and relaxing. Also of note: according to Washington State Parks, one of the largest yew trees in the nation grows in this park. See if you can identify it!

If you want to extend your day, or simply want more hiking, head to nearby Illahee Forest Preserve for a little more rugged experience.
