Mount Rainier Area > SW - Longmire/Paradise

Couldn't sleep so I headed out early and reached the trailhead by 6am on a Friday morning. Even though its labor day weekend there were plenty of parking spots. It's just under 4 mi to the trailhead walking along the gravel road, there's a log cut into a bike lock situation at the trailhead for those who ride their bike up and down the road. The road isn't the most scenic but its nice and very gradual, my watch tracked approx 1k feet gain over those 4 miles. The 2.5ish miles to the lookout are pretty steep but doable, the lake is about 1 mile in and is a beautiful place to take a break. There is a pit toilet, a shelter, and a little log cabin/patrol station for nps. Pit toilet doesnt have any TP. Looked like a really nice place to camp. The lake is kinda massive too, would be fun to take a packraft up there. The lookout has stunning 360 degree views and was not crowded at all, I made it up there around 10:30-11 or so and was the only one there for a little while. In total my watch tracked 13.36 mi and 2571 ft gain, took me 7 hrs including lots of lil breaks to eat berries and take pics. There were so many huckleberries!! Super ripe and will probably be gone/dried out pretty soon. Saw some wildlife on the hike too: doe and 2 fawns, garter snake, tons of jays and other birds, and lots of butterflies.
