We hiked this on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend around 1pm and saw only one other person on the trail.
Road: The 1/2 mile on NF-9716 is not paved or degraded pavement with some significant potholes. Nothing our Honda Civic couldn't handle but just so you know.
Toilets: Vault toilet at trailhead had toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
Map: There is a map on the kiosk (also attached) that shows the route and where the interpretive markers are. There were no brochures for the interpretive numbered markers, though. Would have liked the brochure at least up on the kiosk so I could take a picture of it to refer to. There are interpretive signs about some of the flora, though.
Trail: The trail is easy to follow and there are no obstacles. It was in and out of the sun and while generally uphill, you only really noticed it during switchbacks through an old burn. The sky was a bit smoky so while we could see the peaks of the Enchantments, it wasn't clear. The signs describing the trees were interesting - I didn't know that Ponderosa Pine bark gave off a butterscotch smell! I wish there had been a way to know what the numbered markers were about. The entire part of the trail through an old burn would have been good to learn about.
Thanks to WTA for mentioning this hike during the most recent Hike the State Webinar - it was a perfect stop on our drive between Wenatchee and Seattle! #HiketheState
