The road from highway 2 to the trailhead was rough but i saw a few normal clearance cars make it.
The trail from the parking area to Hope lake is fairly steep and covers about 2/3 of the elevation gain. It's good to have shoes with at least some traction in a few steeper spots on this section. Once the trail gets to the PCT junction with a sign, Hope lake is right in front.
Taking a left turn at the junction and hiking north on the PCT for another mile or so with less steep elevation gain, the trail ends up in an open area where there is a fork. The left side of the fork is the PCT. The right side goes to the Mig lake over flat and mostly open area. It takes a few minutes to get to Mig lake from the fork.
Most of the trail is in the shade which helped a lot since it was hot. Lots of ripe berries were all along the trail.
