What a delightful way to end backpacking season! This is a gently graded ramble or bike ride to the natural hot springs with fall foliage and multiple sights on the way (e.g. mules, the Elwha ranger station, the Glines Canyon Dam, etc). There are a few downed trees on the road past the old dam site but these are easy to navigate (even for folks with bikes). There are a few shallow water crossings (given the time of year) and log bridges.
The Boulder Creek campground has large flat campsites, a bear hang, and a pit toilet. There are multiple spots suited to hammock camping. Be careful about which spot you pick to camp though -- there are some hazard trees that look like they might fall over in a storm. We filtered water from the small bridge on the way down from the campground to the hot springs. (I would not drink the water around the hot springs). The sulfured hot springs are of various sizes and temperatures. I agree with the previous commenter that some of the pools -- particularly the small and early ones -- have bacterial growth that looks like Serratia.
