This trail is a good reminder that the flesh is weak, the shape is elusive, and the proportions of the mountain are deceiving. Towering Baldy looks daunting - and the trail is not easy by any means, though the peak is more achievable than it might look.
The trail was in great condition today: dry, no mud or frost, not slippery - just perfect for this steep incline. It was quite warm at the trailhead, with mid-50s enhanced by sun, but winds were ferocious along the trail, so I quickly stopped regretting having my winter coat on. I followed the shorter, steeper route up, and a longer route down as a courtesy to my knees.
1 hr 5 min to the towers; 1 hr back. Met less than a dozen people.
