Trip Report

Boulder River — Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
Feature Show Falls

Nice trail in good condition and the falls are raging right now after the rain, so it’s a good time to go.

The forest road is full of potholes, especially closer to the trailhead, but I had no problems in an SUV and I think a sedan would be okay too.

The trail is in really good shape up to Feature Show Falls (around a mile in, and the most scenic waterfall). Between Feature Show Falls & Meditation Falls, it’s rockier/rootier and there is more debris on the trail and around 10 blowdowns, a couple of which required a little climbing / getting my pants dirty. None are too difficult to get around if you’re able-bodied but it might be hard if you’re carrying a kid or something. I turned around after Meditation Falls so can’t comment on what the trail is like further on.

5.25 miles / 1069 ft of gain

Meditation Falls
The gnarliest blowdown I encountered on this trail (still took less than 1 min to navigate)
