Taking advantage of a dry spell between "Pineapple Express" storms December 2025, my dog and I escaped in sunbreaks to this small local nature park for some smiles (hooded merganser, Pileated woodpecker, and great blue heron were among the treasured 14 species on this short 2/3 mile, 22 minute jaunt). I like the attempt to label a few species of shrubs and plants, and signage for Grace Cole and a map of the area.
The upper reaches are completely impassable in either direction right now, with two large trees that are across the trail. I could have clambered over but they both were too gnarly for my dog to cross.
A pileated seemed very content to excavate several large snags. After getting turned back twice, we continued back past the car to the boardwalk to enjoy the merganser and great blue heron.
At the trailhead there is a Portapotty that looks like it's getting serviced periodically; someone had left the door open so it was pretty wet inside from high winds and rain but at least the TP (protected) was dry. And there is a recycling and trash receptacle by it as well. We saw two others on the street with a 5-month-old dog and a couple enjoying one of the 3 benches by the water.
The boardwalk does NOT have traction tread and was slick in spots - just be careful with all the debris and recent rains, especially if we get freezing temps as it could turn into slick ice.
I'm not sure how many people visit this park, as the last trip report was May of 2025 but... knowing that the upper reaches are clogged with downed trees might get someone in there with a chain saw to clear it.
