I started my hike from FS 73 (Skookum Flats North Trailhead) and hiked going south to the falls and back. FS 73 has a lot of deep potholes. The drive was slow.
The Cascades got a bunch of snow over the past couple of days, and the snow level dropped to 1500 feet. Expecting some snow at Skookum Falls, I headed there to check it out. Even though the temperature dropped I did not find any ice along the way or at the falls.
We wore micro-spikes but did not need them. The ground was mostly covered with a small amount of snow. It was mostly only an inch or so deep. There may have been 3 inches at most in some places. The upcoming rain and warmer weather may wipe out any snow we got at the falls or along the trail.
Of the 4 photos posted with this write-up is one that shows a big tree across the trail. One could crawl under it or just take the path created going around the root structure.
Any other trees affecting the trail has been cut. Note there was one that covered the trail but I took care of it, making a clear path next to it (pictures on my Facebook page).
