Trip Report

Rattlesnake Dance Ridge Trail — Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026

Central Washington > Yakima

We arrvied just after sunrise this morning. A good day to go up over the pass; no restrictions, bare, no snow or ice on the road.

The parking area has a lot of ice, there are a few spots to park that are dry. We only saw one other car.

The trail was pretty frosty and frozen on our way up, but started to thaw on our way back down once the sun came through the clouds. The trail was not slippery, micro spikes were not needed. This was the calmest I've seen the summit, no wind at all. A perfect morning glow, light up the peaks in the Enchantments. Rainier was partially covered by clouds. The other mountains in the area had a light dusting of snow at the summits. It was quite a beautiful cloud inversion. added some snacks to the register box and headed down.

2 miles round trip and always a good shoulder season conditioner because of how steep it is.
