Trip Report

Ned Hill — Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast

This was a mid-winter hike to the top...roughly 3500'. The road up is really pot-holed in places but should be fine for most cars if your take them carefully. About 70 yards of compact snow/ice in the Deer Ridge parking area, but otherwise the road was snow-free.There is a pole with the trail name on it about 12 feet off the road on the side of the trail. Most folks looking for this trailhead have a bit of trouble finding it. The trail is in good condition and appears to have been recently brushed. Currently there are no obstacles on the trail. No water on  this one except for a bit of a trickle a bit to the west of the very bottom section. All four benches are in good shape, but the "lookout" is almost gone. The platform appears to have fallen and the supporting logs are all leaning over. It won't be long till this one falls over for good. Some decent views of Greywolf Peak through the trees from the final bench area. At this time it's a very low snow year.

Thank you! I love this trail. It’s not very exciting without the fire lookout but the rhododendrons are beautiful. I couldn’t find it the first 2 times I went
