Trip Report

Dosewallips River Road — Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
I was a little nervous about the snow on the road, even though there were two ruts without snow, my car has a pretty low suspension so we parked about a mile or two from the washout. It was an absolutely beautiful day for the hike. The route around the washout of the road is fairly steep up and down, but is very short. Then it's back to walking around a completely flat road. There was a track where people had gone before, but it was a bit icy sometimes, so it was often easier to walk to the side on the fresher snow. The campground itself is very beautiful - ran into a group that had overnighted the previous evening and said the stars were amazing. If you don't mind a bit of snow, this is a great hike right now.
