North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
Sweet mine relics!
The road up to the lakes was fine.. I recommend having more clearance then the average passenger car. But a 4x4 is definitely not needed. I drove a 2wheel drive dakota truck up there and made it just fine. There is snow blocking the trail head though.. so parking and the turn around is tight. The trail was 98% snowfree. There were a few spots that were very easy to navigate. There was an intresting cloud cover that helped with the photos. But they weren't low enough to block the scenery. It's bear season so be prepared to run into hunters. The last climb to even higher pass is totally worth it. You get some good views of the Pleiades. And Larrabee Mtn. On the way back i made a side trip to Gargett Mine! There are some cool relics near the mine entrance=) I love seeing that stuff! The mine is a tad sketchy and it has a foot of water in it. Next time i go up im bringing some waders so i can check it out alittle more. Look for those ripe blueberries! yum=p
