Trip Report

White Chuck Bench — Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
Because of the dense forest, there were not many views. That maybe the low rating? For hiking with a dog, this was perfect! Very soft ground, and miles of flat shaded trails with a brook nestled in. We encountered many spider webs on the trails - sorry spiders! The day we hiked was the day when Seattle had thunderstorms. We heard the thunder and we had some rain. But the sunshine came back immediately, making the woods pretty humid. So there were some mosquitoes. It was hard to tell where the trail ended or would end. We came to the semi-clearing, but the trails continued upward. We followed but it seemed that it was under "construction." So we turned back. But we never got down to the river level like the main picture shows on the trail page. So if we continued on, would we have reached the river? The Nike app registered 4.8 miles RT.
The sun came back after the rain and thunder
