Hope Island trail in sunlight
There are two Hope Islands in Puget Sound; one up by Deception Pass, and then this one down in the south Sound near Olympia. The island can be reached by kayak or private boat. It has four State Park mooring buoys for overnight stays. (http://parks.state.wa.us/517/Hope-Island---Mason) The island has a well-signed loop trail. We followed it counter-clockwise. If one takes the several short side trips to the beaches, the mileage is still only about 2 miles. There were six kayakers out, but we didn't spot anyone else on the island.
