Hiked up to Sherrard Point from The Multnomah Falls trailhead today.
There is some snow about a 1/2 mile up the trail from Multnomah Falls, in a steep stretch of the trail. There has been plenty of foot traffic recently that it's not much of an issue. About 20 steps in length.
Encountered a handful of blow downs, all easy to navigate.
At about 2 1/2 miles from Sherrard Point, I encountered patches of snow on the trail. It never posed an issue regarding traction or a concern for safety.
At 1 1/2 miles from the point the trail was completely covered by snow. Again, I didn't ever feel concerned about my footing.
I hiked in boots and with trekking poles. I would say that if you are someone that prefers to be a bit more cautious or has balance issues, the last 1/4 mile may be best hiked with micro spikes.
I encountered a couple folks using micro spikes, two folks were actually in snowshoes. There were two folks at the point that were simply in tennis shoes and had no trekking pole as well.
The trail was muddy and wet in places, as typical for this time of year.
As imagined, there were lots of folks the first 1 1/2 miles, then the crowds thinned out.
Hopefully this is helpful to those of you considering this hike soon.
