Glorious early morning Mother's Day hike in Washington Park. Took the paved loop road counter clockwise to trail #520 and headed up. Hit the paved loop road to #510 Fidalgo Loop Trail and on to #501 Burrows Channel Trail. For a map with the marked trail numbers, go to the City of Anacortes website under Parks & Recreation. Most people just take the paved loop road, but there are so many great viewpoints on the now well-marked trails mentioned. Don't be afraid to explore this park thoroughly.
It was such a pleasure to see so many wildflowers since last hiked the area a few weeks ago. Lots of camas, some monkey flowers, and madrones in bloom with the promise of many more wildflowers over the next few weeks. Several groups of deer encountered but few people. And, all the trails hiked were in good condition.
