Slab Camp Creek and Gray Wolf River, Deer Ridge — Saturday, Jun. 24, 2017

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal

My group had intended to run the High Divide/Seven Lakes Basin this weekend.  Unfortunately there was a lack of information regarding conditions and whilst I was prepared for snow the rest my group was not.  As a result, we chose to hit the Deer Ridge look instead as reports were that it was completely snow-free.

Overall the trail is in good shape.  There were several blow-downs and one or two slides on the Gray Wolf section of the loop but nothing terribly difficult to navigate.  The trail was also a little overgrown in sections but again, hardly difficult to follow.

If running this loop clockwise, I would advise filling up on water before leaving Gray Wolf River as it is a long, hot, and dry climb from there.

All in all, a good day out albeit disappointing to  miss out on the High Divide.
