Had a leisurely summer hike with two friends. Highly recommend doing the "low" trail out and back. We went in on the low trail and out on the Upper trail. The Upper Trail is really boring during summmer and has little to offer save one or two tiny oasis gentle falls which might be quite nice in the late Fall or Spring. The lines of birches(?) along the upper path would be nice when their leaves change.
Some of the trees on the lower trail are rather impressive and there are also some great trees growing from the nurse stumps of fallen giants.
The waterfall emptying the lake is a real treat! And the lake itself, while a bit on the icy side, is still warm enough for a brief swim if you are used to alpine lake swimming. Its not like Vesper Lake (aka Lake Ann!
Enjoy.
