Trip Report

Lake Ethel, Lake Julius and Loch Eileen & Lake Donald — Friday, Oct. 6, 2017

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - East
Loch Eileen

Nice little 19 mile run up to some remote and beautiful lakes!

Trailhead: I actually didn't park at the trailhead because my little sedan wasn't going to make it past a couple of the large potholes on the road. I parked about a 1/4 mile away from the trailhead on the side of the road. The actual trailhead has room for maybe up to 5 cars.

Trail: Good condition despite there being about 20-30 downed trees in the first 3 miles. All of them are about 1-2 ft diameter, nothing hard to step over, on, or under. Very intermittent snow above 5000 ft, although that will change over the next few days. Some overgrown vegetation in more than a couple of places, but nothing that completely obscures the trail.

Beauty: Good number of larches turning up in the area along with all the other red and orange fall foliage. Plus I had the lakes and the trail all to myself the entire day!

Little bit of Larch Beauty!
