Dosewallips River Road, Main Fork Dosewallips River — Saturday, Jun. 16, 2018

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
Dose falls.

Enjoyed a nice leg stretching trail run up the Dosewallips river today. The road after the washout is in fine shape. A few minor water crossings and rocky sections, nothing you need to prepare for. The Dose road is wide which nicely accommodates mountain bikers, larger day groups, overnighters and livestock you can except to share it with. Right now there's plenty of placed to process water from runoff(that's right next to the road/trail) all the way to the Main Fork and a little beyond.

The campgrounds I passed boasted some pretty spacious pads. Even the ones that were not right on the river seemed quiet and peaceful. Definitely a good spot for the newly introduced outdoors person/kid. Watch out for stinging nettle. It's all over right now. Bear lockers a nice touch too.

I poked around the Main Fork and Constance Pass trail for some extra gain. If you're heading this way in the not too distant future I can tell you there was no signs of snow up to around 5,000. Bone dry to be honest.

22.5 miles, 4600 gain.

Dose river.
Dose Forks camp.
Pick a way.
