I learned a valuable lesson today: don't pick this hike if it's your first hike of the season! Really should have worked up to this one. The first two miles left me with minimal gas in the tank to make it to Mount Townsend, but I powered on. Lots of friendly folks and cute dogs. Views were breathtaking, but they came at a cost! I'd highly recommend trekking poles, even if they're not your style. PHEW!
