We cruised up to Kamikaze Falls after work to check out the new trailhead and the Teneriffe Falls Connector trail shown on some maps. We figured it'd make a good lollipop if we came down the new trail.
The parking area is HUGE and well planned. The bathrooms are still clean, too! The 0.5 mile trail that connects to the old road is so much nicer than a road walk it makes me wish the whole trail had been rebuilt like that. We followed the road up to about 2,000 ft where we easily found the unsigned Teneriffe Falls Connector Trail. It drops a bit, but is a great relief after walking the road up to that point. Cross the creek and join the new trail for the last few switchbacks to the falls.
There was big water coming down and I wish we'd had better light and more time. As it was, we had to bail pretty quickly to ensure we'd be back before the lot closed at 8. We did descend the new trail, loose rocks and all. The section that borrows from the original trail is the nicest part, but it got us down regardless. And we were back in time to change before the gates closed.
