The Brothers — Thursday, May. 16, 2019

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal

Took my redhead / mountain goat hybrid Brittany up for a hike to the VOTSM. Trail was great until crossing of Lena creek / Lower Lena Lake inlet just before Brothers Wilderness trail. The footbridge was a little sketchy, the human hiker had to hands and knees across...watch out for logs that are floaters. When crossing Lena Creek, follow lakeshore to right to find trail to Brothers Wilderness trail...the original trail after the "bridge" has too many blowdowns to cross, following lake shore provided a slippery, but quick bypass to get back on track. Although my hiking buddy is a lot more sure-footed than I, I decided to turn around at the tree bridge to the climbers trail as it was a bit of a drop for a pooch, and there were only handrails for human hikers... nonetheless, it was a great bridge for others who wish to ramble on.
