When Mt loop hiway becomes dirt, the road is great, the dirt is smooth and in the best shape i have seen. From mt loop to goat lake not so much. Potholes are deep and u need to be careful. On the other hand made it in a prius. So took the north root out and the river trail back. The river trail is much more Intresting. It's a total of 10.5 miles and 3885 total gain with the up and downs rt. But for sure a intermediate to hard hike. Pretty slow upgrade for first 4 miles then most of the straight gain comes in.. The trail goes from smooth dirt to rock creek bed for a mile in the last mile. You swing back to the creek for a beautiful series of falls then a view of a beautiful lake. Green blue with snow capped mountains all around.. Great hike.. You can't really walk around lake.. We did 25% but trail becomes a makenur own trail adventure .
