This was just to check out Carbon River side of the park for future hikes. Parking was full but we arrived around noon. So that was our choice. We had to park on the service road but there was ample parking there. We were checking out the area for a upcoming two day backpacking trip. Well maintained trails up to the turnoff for the Old Mine Shaft trail. The hike up the the mine shaft is steep but not bad. Your there in 15 minutes once you leave the main trail. The size of some of these trees on this trail is unreal.
