Little Giant Pass — Saturday, Sep. 28, 2019

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - East

If you are searching for one of those hikes for fall colors but dont like the crowds, this is the hike to do!  Its a little challenging but we did in with some casually paced hikers in five hours.  Its about 9 miles RT.

There is small river crossing at the beginning so bring extra shoes and a towel and you will be fine.  We were the only ones on the trail this Saturday!!

So no snow Saturday? How was the road? Was thinking of hiking Tuesday but wanted fall colors still and safe roads.

All good Saturday

Despite a storm warning or watch we add patches of blue sky and some light flurries at the top. The valley behind had some snow accumulating which is really weird. The road is fine I have a suburban but as long as you slow down for some of the potholes you will be fine. I think it's 10 miles of paved 10 miles of dirt but the dirt part is actually really nice compared to certain roads. Take water shoes for the river crossing or sandals. one of the meetup groups Seattle outdoor adventures is doing that hike tomorrow and I think there's 12 people signed up and they're leaving Seattle area at 6 a.m. so there will be other people on that trail. I usually do longer detailed hikes but I did a short one as a experiment to see if I get more likes. Not that I care about likes but it was an experiment. It's an awesome hike. It took me 3 hours up but I was held back by my group.

Thanks for all the great info!!! Knowing some people will be on the trail tomorrow is great. Was a little worried about possibly being the only person on the trail. I like trails to myself but like knowing a few people are here and there. Thank you!!!

One more question - how easy/hard is it to find the trail head off NF-62?
