WTA Trail Crews spent 6 days over the last two weeks cutting logs off the trail, improving the trail tread through the dry creek crossings, and brushing out the first two miles of trail.
The trail is in good condition and snow free up to the Perry Creek Falls (4th water crossing). The first two water crossings are not difficult (btwn 2-2.5 miles). The third water crossing near the 3 mile mark was running fast and deep with snow melt in the heat this week and most folks were turning back there. The snow line is just past the Perry Creek Falls. Snow travel gear (spikes, ice axe, etc.) and good winter route navigation skills are still required to get into Forgotten Meadows or up to the peak of Mount Forgotten. Snow line is at about 3500 feet.
The wildflowers on the connector trail are in bloom and the flowers on the old main trail are just starting to open up in our heat this week. Another week or so and they should be in full bloom. Bugs are an annoyance, but not bad yet. We were glad we had our bug spray with us.
