Thompson Lake via Granite Creek Trail — Sunday, Jul. 10, 2022

Spent Sunday night at Thompson with my dog. What a beautiful peaceful spot! Pretty much had the whole lake to myself other than some trail workers. And so close to Seattle too! I guess Mailbox steals all the traffic and most people turn back at Granite Lakes. I did stop to check out Granite Lakes on the way up but was a bit underwhelmed to be honest and it was rather crowded with day hikers. Next time I will skip the detour and go straight to Thompson. Most of the hike is a modest incline, but it gets much tougher after the Granite Lakes turnoff. My dog is getting older and this hike was right at his limit. Bugs are plentiful so bring spray or a head net.
