Trip Report

Dodger Point — Monday, Aug. 1, 2022

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast

Parking available at Madison Falls TH. Majority of cars appear to be day hikers & people hanging out at river. I wish I had bike so I didn't have to hike along old, closed road. Bypass trail is through woods. There were a few creeks next to road before arriving at Whiskey Bend TH. Overall, trail was in good condition. Bugs weren't bad to Humes Ranch camp. Multiple camp spots at Humes Ranch. There was a stream shortly after Humes Ranch camp, before bridge over Elwha. Get water in the creek instead of bushing whacking down to Elwha after crossing bridge. Long Ridge trail up to Dodger Point is long, gradual switchbacks. It didn't seem like I had to gain 5k. Not lots of views on way up. Bugs were horrible at Dodger Point! They were up after sunset and were waiting for me to wake up the next morning. Stream to fill up was available before last push up to Dodger Point. Saw 1 bear while sitting at Dodger Point. Hike back to car seemed long... Horses by TH seemed very hungry.
