This is a great hike to combine with the nearby Multnomah Falls, or as an alternative to the crowds there. The falls are very striking, especially against the mossy grotto, and the lollipop trail gives you the chance to hike both along the river up to the falls (what I’ll call the lower trail, to the right at the junction as described in the WTA description), and higher along the canyon walls (the upper trail, to the left at the junction).
An important note is that though it may since have been cleared, a large tree had fallen across the upper trail right before it reaches the falls. It was possible to scramble around it, but it was a scramble. So unless it’s been cleared, I’d recommend taking the lower/river trail both up and back, rather than doing the lollipop loop, for those who have mobility concerns. That wouldn’t otherwise be an issue on the rest of the trail, which is well maintained.
