The road is clear to the parking area at the end.
The trail is snow-free to about 1/4 mile before you reach the Dosewallips campground and ranger station. There are a few small downed trees along the way but they are not a problem. Other than that the trail is in good condition to the Lake Constance trail junction.
Once you pass the Lake Constance trail junction, the trail traverses above a narrow canyon and passes right underneath an enormous cliff - with falling rocks, by the way, where a rockslide has destroyed the trail. Not a place to linger and have lunch LOL. There are few patches of snow there but you can proceed further with care. (If this area is completely snow covered and icy, as it is apt to be in more wintry conditions, extreme care would be required to pass the cliff as it would be a fatal plunge to the river if you lost your footing at this point). After passing that obstacle, the trail climbs a steep hill parallel to the river at the impressive Dose Falls. After cresting the hill there is a nice view up to valley to the snow-bound peaks in the upper valley and a convenient log by the trail to rest.
Past this point the trail gradually becomes snow covered and I turned around there, about 6 miles from the road end one way.
Seeing how mother nature has modified and eroded the route since the washout ~ 20 years ago, especially at the above-noted cliff, it would not be surprising if the road is never reopened.
