Hiked the Boulder River Trail for the first time this afternoon, but the stunning waterfalls and well graded trail will definitely make me come back.
Road: The road had a few potholes but was pretty manageable in my Crosstrek. Once I got to the trailhead I was surprised to find mosquitos already out (first hike this season where I've noticed them, guess it's Spring).
Trail: The trail is really well graded and smooth going all the way until its end at the riverside campground. There was patches of snow starting about a mile and half in but I never felt the need to put on my microspikes. Some muddy conditions here and there but nothing out of the ordinary for NW trails. The trail wonders through beautiful forests with really impressive old growth trees that tower over you. It seems to end at an area with a few campsites and river access on the bank.
Waterfalls: The double waterfalls are spectacular and a perfect place to enjoy a snack and might even make a good turnaround point for folks looking for a shorter outing. You can access the river in this area and enjoy the beauty and tranquility. Continuing on the trail you'll come across another really impressive waterfall (seemingly a bit more wide and a little shorter) with river access again, but not as much of a river bank to hang out in.
