Wildside Trail-De Leo Wall, CrossTown Trail - Newcastle — Monday, Jun. 12, 2023

Issaquah Alps > Cougar Mountain
Twin Berry

To escape the heat we took our out of town friends for a 4 mile hike on the Newcastle trails to the DeLeo Wall viewpoint and back.  Thanks to whoever is widening the Crosstown trail, adding rock supports on step edges and making rocky drainage channels.  Your work is very much appreciated!  The trial was in excellent condition and the recent rain made is damp and there was no dust.  Trail traffic was super light on the Crosstown and Upper and Lower DeLeo wall trails today.  We were out from 10:30 - 1:00 and saw only 1 trail runner.  Wildflowers are still blooming - we saw fox gloves, paint brush, fringe cup, vetch, twin flower, start flower, self heal, wild rose, miner’s lettuce and honey suckle .  Lot’s of birds were flitting about - juncos, chickadees, towhees, robins, hummingbird and 2 great pileated sightings.  Another fantastic day out in nature.
