Easy cruising trail on the way down. On the way up...it's a tough one. 3,400feet in a bit over 4 miles. As earlier mentioned, a few snow patches but not much to worry about. No micro spikes needed. On my way up two hikers mentioned seeing a bear, but I didn't see one. Nor did three other hikers that I spoke with. The snow melt water access at mile 3.5 is still there, but it will be dried up once all of the snow melts which will leave no water access. So plan to bring plenty of water in a few weeks. Fantastic views of Mt Rainier, Mt Adams, Mt Saint Helens and even the summit of Mt Hood was visible.
