Sloan Peak — Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023

I did Sloan via Cougar creek. The TR from 7/4 says that this is the standard route, which is incorrect. The current standard route is the Bedal creek approach, as it is significantly shorter than the Cougar creek approach.

Only one other party was on the mountain. Wildfire smoke from the Sourdough fire. Lots of ripe salmonberries and huckleberries.

Crevasses on the glacier are wide open, and snow bridges are sketchy AF. I recommend going as high up as possible before stepping on the glacier.
