Home Go Hiking Trip Reports Captain William Clark Regional Park at Cottonwood Beach - Dike Trail, Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Washougal Waterfront Park Trail - Columbia River Connector Trail
Deer along the Art trail

We began at Steamboat Landing and headed East on the Dike trail to Steigerwald Wildlife Refuge to the gated, Eastern boundary where we backtracked to the Eastern entrance of the Wildlife Art Trail.  On the Art trail a deer and her fawn crossed the trail in front of us.  On the return trip we passed Steamboat Landing, continuing West onto the Washougal Waterfront trail, which was new territory for us.

The trail is in fine condition.  There were plenty of people hiking, biking, running, and taking their beach gear across the Dike trail to Columbia River access points (coolers, chairs, kayaks, paddle boards, etc.).

Bugs were non-existent with exception of periodic clouds of small, light-colored bugs, at face level.

In all we covered ~12 miles.
