Little Giant Pass, High Pass, Buck Creek Pass, Suiattle Pass, Cloudy Pass to Holden, Ten Mile & Company Creek — Saturday, Sep. 2, 2023

Sept 2nd-6th 2023
Little Giant trail sadly not being maintained with more downed trees but manageable to get to the Napeequa and High Pass. Dropping down from Giant Pass as always is technical and long winded. In my opinion Little Giant has very small window with Fall colors and if using to get to High Pass I think using BoulderPass is just as pretty and far better trail conditions and road. Night 1 High Pass with a Black bear sighting.
Day 2
Over Buck Creek Pass to Middle Ridge and detour up to Sheep camp for lunch and down backside goat trail reconnecting Buck Creek Pass trail to the PCT north to Suiattle pass up and over Cloudy Pass with great trail conditions with overcast skies and Lyman lakes looking moonscape so we pushed for Hart lake for Night 2 recent trail clearing to Hart lake and to Holden made great conditions. One great tent spot at the lake and very pleasant.
Day 3
Hiked down to Holden for lunch at noon with the ring of the dinner Bell amazing lunch and warm welcome. Quick look around then hit the short dryed/ fire exposed Ten mile creek Trailhead with just a few downed trees. WTA and FS doing great work in this area. Connected With Company creek trail over Hilgard pass trail completely cleared of trees clear to stehekin. Amazing! There are a few brushy sections on northern end of company creek but wow to have a nice route from Holden was great. A few camp spots north side of Hilgard pass otherwise only one at last company creek crossing with nice spot and where we spent night 3. This last creek crossing requires getting feet wet, easy and safe just wide.
Day 4
hike about six miles finishing Company Creek trail with about three miles on Company creek Road over Harequin bridge to the Bakery for breakfast. Enjoyed Stehekin and night at Purple point camp for night 4.
Day 5
First thing at 8am opening rented side by side ATV loaded our golden retrievers and toured High Bridge area and stehekin/ Bakery. Boarded the Lady Express boat at 12:30 and getting of and picked up at Fields point landing.
Great weather no bug issues. Plenty of water resources for the dogs. First two miles of Ten mile creek where dry and warm with little shade.
