West Tiger Four-Summit Loop — Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024

Issaquah Alps > Tiger Mountain
West Tiger Railroad Grade

This is another variation of a fun loop. I started on Cable Line with really no intention of doing the full loop all the way over to Poo Poo Point, but in my best Forest Gump " I went this far, might as well keep going!! haha!.

At the top of Cable Line and WT3, I headed down Section Line to West Tiger Railroad Grade, where I took a left. In about 1/3 of a mile I took a left on a unmarked trail. This is the Seattle View Trail. I hadn't been on this trail since the logging operation a couple of years ago, so I didn't know what to expect. There is a mess of blowdowns at around 2200ft or so, that was annoying to get around, but fortunately it is only for a short distance. Other than this, the trail appears to have been brushed out, and in good shape. There is actually a new sign at the top!

From the top of Seattle View trail, I got on the trail that heads up to WT2 and went to WT2 summit, and then followed the road over to WT1. From WT1 I took the Poo Top trail to where it turns into the Hidden Forest trail, and took the Hidden Forest trail all the way down to the Westside Road, which I took to Poo Poo Point.

Once at Poo Poo Point, the weather started to improve from all fog to some sunny skies to the west. I thought I might catch some sunset colors, so I decided to go up One View trail, up the TMT, and head back up to WT2. After going up nearly 400 vertical feet, I noticed that the upper half of all the West Tiger Summits were still in the fog, so I turned around, and headed back down the Poo Poo Point trail. Once down to the road and the intersection of the High School-Section Line trails, I took the road to the north, got on the Bus trail, the WT3 trail to the parking lot, and then the connector trail back to my car at Cable Line in the dark. This particular fun loop was 12 miles with 4388 ft gain

ALW Hiker on West Tiger Four-Summit Loop

Thanks for the info on the Seattle View Trail, I was wondering if that had been properly reconnected. It was one of the more obscure and overgrown trails up there, but it was nice being able to bypass WT3 when the mood strikes. :)

kidz won't hike on West Tiger Four-Summit Loop

I decided on a whim to check it out. Glad I did, as it was in decent shape. The short section of blowdowns were a pain, but short lived. There is already a bypass trail around it. I’m planning on using it again, now that I know it’s open
