Thompson Lake via Granite Creek Trail — Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024

Pretty sure I snagged first tracks to the lake in 2024. Would recommend waiting a couple months unless you have high confidence in route finding on snow, are comfortable assessing post hole risk on variable terrain, or you have an all terrain labrador to guide the route. Snow was probably 1-3 feet deep around the lake and in the basin. After the turn from Granite Creek trail I only saw one annoying off-leash dog who kept trying to steal my snacks… Dog owners are the worst!
